I have studied Japanese off and on for 20 years and am now wishing that I had at some point stuck to the same path long ago and not wasted so much time learning only basic and the same basic over and over and not progressing much beyond. I finally learned the importance of this a while back and am finally in intermediate land. Not sticking to a path is insanity. Which is a different kind of path. One that you want to avoid.
